Back to derby

It’s quite a nice feeling being excited to go to work on a Monday! Now if I was only getting paid :p

Had another good week at the home, nothing major happening but we had some training today to deal with dogs bites! I’ve been bitten once out in the street years ago and I never want to have that again! So it all about learning to look for the signs of early stress in the dogs. Was especially important today as I was on the training block again.
We don’t have enough spaces for all of the dogs in the kennels so some of the blocks have a kitchen dog, one that lives in there as we go about our business, it’s the same size as their kennel would and they get more interaction with people, but unfortunately people that walk past tend not to look in.

Wednesdays and Saturdays are adoption days when the dogs get to go to their new home after a home visit so it’s quite interesting to come in on a Monday and find dogs gone or reserved for people to take home later in the week! I’ve become attached to a few dogs and they always seem to go soon after! I can’t complain though!

We have some puppies in that are 6 weeks old and already have home to go to when they are old enough, I had a day with them last week and it was so difficult! They are at the stage where they like to bite so they are crawling all over me and biting arms, fingers, shoes, pants and tops. And each-other!
Had an awesome Roller derby weekend, spent Saturday and Sunday morning helping with fundraisers with teddy tombola’s at a local transport festival. Then I finally got to go back on my skates on Sunday for the intake and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be! So I’m going to start on Tuesday again with the new freshies and do as much as I can!

I was also made into an associate member so I get to pick a derby name and number officially now. All need now is ideas! Played more Malifaux and see to have good tactics and a good team!

Love xx
